Medical Volunteer

To serve patients in need throughout King and Snohomish Counties, we depend on a diverse group of volunteers for each weekly clinic (mobile or fixed site). Below, you can find descriptions of the unique roles where licensed volunteers can serve.

Volunteers typically sign up to serve 1-2 times monthly for a 5-hour shift during a clinic’s operating hours. We offer self-scheduling so you can choose the opening and location you would prefer. We ask for a one-year commitment from volunteers and provide training specific to the position, including: Patient Confidentiality (HIPAA), Blood-borne Pathogens, and Electronic Health Record (EHR) software.

Medical and Specialty Providers

Our volunteer medical providers provide primary health care to adults during clinic hours. Lahai Health medical providers are family physicians, internists, nurse practitioners, naturopathic doctors and physician assistants. We also have medical providers who specialize in podiatry, cardiology, physical therapy, optometry, chiropractic and diabetic education. Additionally, we are currently seeking a Urologist, Specialty Dermatologist, Psychiatrist, Orthopedist, and a Nephrologist. All providers must be licensed, board certified and have malpractice insurance.

Free malpractice insurance is available through WHAA for volunteer providers who are not working for pay, in their field. Lahai Health will assist our volunteer providers in obtaining this insurance.

Nurses RN/MA/CNA

Nurse positions are filled by RNs, LPNs, MAs, CNAs and EMTs. They provide services to patients during clinic hours; they also assist with special events such as health fairs and screenings in our community.

In the nurse position, volunteers work alongside our medical providers taking patients’ vital signs, health histories, performing point of care tests and assisting in the exam room, within their scope of practice.

Free malpractice insurance is available through WHAA for licensed volunteers. Lahai Health will assist in obtaining this insurance.
